At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night we gather as a community to celebrate, honor and remember those touched by blood cancers. Friends, families, schools, corporate teams, and sponsors join together to bring light to the darkness of cancer. The funds raised by this community fund lifesaving research, advocacy, and support for blood cancer patients and their families. Join us in the fight to cure cancer!
It is highly recommended that all blood cancer patients or other immunocompromised individuals check with their healthcare provider before attending this event. Research conducted by LLS and others has shown that some blood cancer patients do not get optimal protection from COVID-19 vaccination and may continue to have heightened susceptibility to contracting and becoming ill from COVID-19. While at the event, we urge our community to respect anyone’s choice to continue to take precautions like masking or social distancing.
There will also be a virtual event experience provided for any participants who would prefer to not join us in person, held on November 15, Details to come in emails to all registered participants in early November.

Hey, Umphrey’s McGee fans! Can’t get enough of the live music of one of the greatest jam bands in the world? You are in luck as your favorite
Hey, Umphrey’s McGee fans! Can’t get enough of the live music of one of the greatest jam bands in the world? You are in luck as your favorite Umphrey’s McGee announced additional shows for their 2022 tour this September and October. Yes, you’ve read that right! As an answer to calls for additional shows, the Indiana-native band will be heading to Georgia’s Johnny Mercer Theatre this October 1 for another electrifying concert that will leave you in complete awe. Prepare for a night of timeless hit songs, impressively choreographed visuals, and superb instrumentations. The band will also perform songs from their new album released this July. Thus, we know it will be a jam-packed jam session for all of us to see. So, what are you waiting for?
Formed by students at the University of Notre Dame in December 1997, Umphrey’s McGee’s ambitious and musically versatile acts got them noticed among several jam bands when they were still starting out. Over the years, the band established a dedicated following among fans who loved their music’s blend of funk, electronic, metal, progressive rock, jazz, and folk. Their live shows in the early 2000s became a go-to for jam-band fans who were so enthralled by their numerous live and studio albums, including 2006’s “Safety in Numbers” and 2009’s experimental “Mantis.”
As a jam band, UM stood out as unique among other bands because they continually set up programs offering live recordings to fans immediately after the show. They also crafted their special “Hall of Fame” album series wherein fans vote on the band’s best performances of the year to be released on an annual live compilation.
The band continued to thrive in the 2010s. They have toured all over the country, released six studio albums, and released the “Hall of Fame” series from 2010 to 2020. Included in the six studio albums are an album tracked at London’s famed Abbey Road Studios and the companion albums “It’s Not Us” and “It’s You,” released in 2018.
Recently, the band announced another album, entitled “Asking for A Friend,” to be released in July. This is a follow-up to their successful album “You Walked Up Shaking In Your Boots But You Stood Tall And Left A Raging Bull,” released in 2021.

Saturday, October 8, Festival, Live music, vendors, parade, 11 am – 11 pm, parade at 3 pm.
A Brief History
Tybee Pirate Fest began in 2005 with a small handful of individuals that were looking for a unique event to help boost visitation to the island in the off-season months. The first year was even more successful than the organizers, a non-profit called Tybeefest, even imagined it could be. With the support of many dedicated volunteers, The City of Tybee Island and its elected officials, the Tybee Island Tourism Council, and local businesses the event has grown in popularity each year.
There are lots of activities for families, loads of entertainment, and a Thieves Market filled with treasure. The festival grounds have grown to encompass the entire South Beach Parking Lot by the Tybee Pier from Tybrisa Street to 18th Street. This website provides the history of the event and lots of other pirate stuff. Hope you find it useful and it helps you find your way to the Annual Pirate Fest on Tybee Island located only 20 minutes from Savannah GA historical district and the cobblestone River Street.

Heads-Up Guidance Services (HUGS) will host its annual Boo Bash Masquerade & Casino Night fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 14 from 7 to 11 p.m. in The Grandview Event Center at Hotel Tybee, located at 1401 Strand Avenue on Tybee Island.
The fun-filled evening will feature catered dishes by Kirk Blaine, an open bar, music, entertainment by Master of Ceremonies Renee LaSalle, casino games by Monte Carlo Productions, and big-ticket raffle prizes. Guests can “buy” one raffle ticket per every $10,000 in funny money from their casino winnings. This event is open to the public for people 21 years and over.
HUGS is a local non-profit organization that provides affordable and accessible professional behavioral health counseling and addiction recovery services to children and adults. 100% of individual ticket and sponsorship sales proceeds will benefit Commitment to Community: The Campaign for HUGS. The campaign’s fundraising goal of $4M over the next five years will help expand HUGS’ service areas and establish an endowment fund.
“HUGS has always relied solely on community support to offer exceptional mental health care, but our new fundraising campaign will take us to the next level,” explained HUGS founder and managing director, Andrea Epting. “Our plan is to set up satellite locations in Brunswick and Bluffton to be more accessible for clients who travel several hours to Savannah and back for HUGS’ unique services.”
Tickets for the Boo Bash cost $150 per person, which includes $1,500 in funny money to play the casino games. The dress code will be formal attire (black tie optional) with, of course, a masquerade mask. There are also four sponsorship levels available with varying perks, all including a choice of a HUGS workshop on emotional intelligence in the workplace, self-aware leadership, or authenticity vs. competency in sales.
To purchase tickets or sponsorship packages for the Boo Bash, visit headsupsavannah.org/news-events. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door, so those planning to attend the event are encouraged to buy theirs online ahead of time. Guests interested in staying overnight at Hotel Tybee can use code “HUGS” at hoteltybee.com when booking a room to receive the discounted group hotel rate.

The Isle of Hope Art and Music Festival returns Saturday, October 22, 2022! The festival will feature talented local artists and musicians. Holley Jaakkola and Erica Wilson are co-hosting the event this year with support from a talented team of local volunteers and the Isle of Hope Historical Association.
The festival is free for all ages and will feature IOH favorites and new vendors. Artists will be located at the Isle of Hope Marina Pavilion, Paxton Park, Rose Avenue, and Bluff Drive from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Music Festival will be from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. at the IOH Marina. An incredible lineup of musicians will be announced soon. Local food trucks will provide great food and treats. The Isle of Hope Marina will sell beer, wine, soda, and water.
Ruthie and Noel Wright, with The Isle of Hope Artisans League, started The Isle of Hope Art Show in 2000. Residents and artists joined together for the first show, which took place in front of Noel and Ruthie Wright’s house on Bluff Drive. Eventually, it expanded to the Isle of Hope Marina and Pavilion. In 2011, the Art Show added a parade, museum, and Music Festival to celebrate the 275th anniversary of Isle of Hope. The residents loved the Music Festival, so organizers kept it going, and it became known as the Isle of Hope Art and Music Festival.
The Isle of Hope Historical Association presents the festival now. Corporate and individual sponsorships fund the event. If you would like to be a sponsor, artist, vendor, or volunteer, please contact us at iohartmusicfest.com.

The 17th annual Wag-O-Ween pet trick-or-treating fundraising event will be held on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at treat stops between the Savannah River and the Starland District. Humans and dogs alike are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes and follow their map to participating local businesses, which will be giving out dog treats and goodies.
The event also includes a photo station with costume contests, dog races, and raffles in Pulaski Square throughout each day. After a wildly successful 2021 weekend, event organizers The Hipster Hound and Renegade Paws Rescue decided to continue the two-day format and expansion to the Starland District for 2022.
“Once again, we are delighted to bring back this ‘pawesome’ event that continues to grow year after year. We are expecting over 2,000 wagging tails to descend upon Savannah for a weekend of spooktacular fun,” said Tonya Rintye, owner of The Hipster Hound. “Local rescues have seen an unprecedented number of pet surrenders this past year. The proceeds from Wag-O-Ween will help these struggling rescues provide veterinary care to the displaced pets while the event itself will build awareness on how to save lives by becoming a foster parent.”
In honor of local businesswoman and Wag-O-Ween event creator Sara Portman, who passed away in 2020, her friends at The Hipster Hound and Renegade Paws Rescue established the Sara Portman Community Fund. A portion of the proceeds from Wag-O-Ween will go to this fund for community spay/neutering, education, and more. The remaining money raised will continue to support local animal rescues in their mission to place animals in “furever” homes and support community education efforts.
In addition to the October 22 & 23 weekend, the Wag-O-Ween committee has planned “A Toast to Wag-O-Ween,” an elegant evening of wine tasting featuring Rescue Dog Wines. The exclusive event will be held on Thursday, October 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mansion La Belle, located at 410 E. Gwinnett Street in Savannah. Guests will experience their wine tasting with a souvenir wine glass, hors d’oeuvres by local chefs, Savannah storytelling, tarot card readings, live music, and a silent auction. For more information and to register for the event, visit renegadepawsrescue.networkforgood.com/events/47980-a-toast-to-wag-o-ween.
Wag-O-Ween participants can register and donate ahead of time at wagoween.org. The $10 wristband admits one pet for the entire weekend and includes a treat destination map and doggy swag bag.
During the week of Wag-O-Ween, participants can also register in person or pick up their pre-ordered doggy swag bags and t-shirts at the following kick-off events:
Wednesday, October 19, Starland Yard, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 20; Service Brewing, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Friday, October 21, The Alida (Wag-O-Ween’s hotel partner), time TBD
Friday, October 21, Fish Tales in Richmond Hill, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
To learn more about Wag-O-Ween registration, treat destinations, donation opportunities, and kick-off events, visit the Wag-O-Ween website at wagoween.org. The website will be updated frequently as more details are determined closer to the event.

You are in for a sidesplitting evening this October 22, Saturday, as the actor-comedian Chris D’elia brings his 2022 comedy tour to the Johnny Mercer Theatre. If you want to add some humor to your dull Saturday night, this show is the one you are looking for. Let the unapologetic humor of the “Whitney” and “Undateable” star make you roll in laughter as he sports his unapologetic crass humor. The moment this 42-year-old comedian starts his stage antics, you are in for a silly and hilarious ride. Get your tickets for his 2-hour show that will erase all your stress away. Click the “Get Tickets” link to grab your tickets fast and safely!
Chris D’Elia is one of the few actors who also found success in the stand-up comedy world. Before venturing into comedy, D’Elia has had successes in TV, movies, and even podcasting. He had his first big break in the stand-up comedy circuit when he was featured on “Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham,” “Comedy Central Presents,” and “Showtime’s Live Nude Comedy.” All these prominent shows propelled the career of the comedian to greater heights. Notably, D’Elia had three Netflix Specials: “Incorrigible” in 2015, “Man on Fire” in 2017, and “No Pain” in 2020. In 2018 and 2019, he went viral for imitating Eminem, which the rapper appreciated. He then starred in Eminem’s “Homicide” music video, emulating the rapper.
In recent years, Chris D’Elia had his share of controversies that almost ruined his career. Fortunately, he bounced back this year with his stand-up comedy tour. The 42-year-old comedian will once again hit the road starting in August 2022 to sport his crass humor, which has been loved by many people over the years. The comedian will stop at Johnny Mercer Theatre this October 22, Saturday to entertain his Georgia fans. Catch D’Elia and all of his silliness, and be one of the first to hear what he has prepared for all his fans in his comeback to the comedy scene.

Widespread Panic has been together for over three decades. Formed by vocalist/guitarist John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, and late lead guitarist Michael Houser in the mid-1980s while the three attended the University of Georgia, over the next several years, the band’s lineup expanded to include drummer Todd Nance, percussionist Domingo Ortiz, and keyboardist John Hermann. The current lineup now includes lead guitarist Jimmy Herring and drummer Duane Trucks.
Attaining true road warrior status, Widespread Panic has broken attendance records across the country, including a staggering 60 consecutive sell-outs at legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, 18 sell outs at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, additional records in the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Birmingham’s Oak Mountain Amphitheater, New Orleans Jazzfest and The Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Panic has headlined most of the major U.S. festivals including Bonnaroo (eight times), Lollapalooza, ACL Festival, LOCKN’, Outside Lands, and Forecastle to name just a few.
Over the past 30 years, Widespread Panic has sold over 3 million albums, and 4 million downloads. Twelve years ago the band opened its vault and began to release live recordings through its Archive series of releases, spotlighting exceptional shows spanning the band’s entire career. In 2008 was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and continues to sell out shows across the country.
