Historic Savannah Foundation and the Davenport House Museum will present a special Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day in conjunction with the Savannah Chinese Association on Sun., Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will be filled with hands-on activities, cultural performances, refreshments and fun for all ages.

One of the most important holidays in many East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the harvest, family reunions and the full moon, serving as a time for gathering together to share food and give thanks. The celebration will also include the opening of the Savannah Chinese Association’s new photography exhibition, “Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes” at 12:30 p.m.

The Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day also honors an important chapter in the Davenport House Museum’s own history. From 1901 to 1902, a portion of the home was occupied by the Chan family, one of Savannah’s earliest Chinese-American families. Through a special partnership with the Savannah Chinese Association, guests are invited to connect with the museum’s past while celebrating a living cultural tradition.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the return of the museum’s acclaimed exhibition, “Old Chan Magic: Chinese Roots, Southern Branches,” which shares the story of the Chan family and Savannah’s early Chinese community.

The Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day is free and open to the public thanks to generous support from the City of Savannah.

Join us for the 5th Annual Brett J Morris Avenger Foundation Mental Health Awareness 5K on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Coastal Cathedral in Savannah. Found as a tiny straggler hatchling on Ossabaw Island in 2023, Ossie has grown strong and educated visitors at the science center for the last three years. Now weighing almost 36 pounds, this healthy juvenile is ready to thrive in their natural environment.
But gone doesn’t mean forgotten: Ossie will be equipped with a satellite tracker, thanks to activist Liddy Clever and her nonprofit organization, Sea Life with Liddy. Weekly whereabouts will be posted on TIMSC’s social media and website.
The event will take place on the beach in front of the Center Street crossover in the North Beach parking lot.

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire – Savannah’s leading organization dedicated to helping citizens proactively manage conflict and creating a more conflict-resilient community – is thrilled to host the 2026 Peace in the Park celebration on Sunday, September 27th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Daffin Park. The fifth annual event, which is free and open to the public, will offer opportunities for community members to support peace, counter violence and celebrate unity.

The theme for the 2026 Peace in the Park event is Think Globally. Act Locally. Designed to coincide with International Day of Peace, Peace in the Park is the result of powerful local community collaborations and a shared vision to build a more compassionate, connected and conflict-resilient Savannah.

This uplifting afternoon will offer something for everyone, including live music, spoken word performances, yoga, dancing and face painting. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative peacebuilding idea board and to participate in interactive “passing peace forward” activities designed to be shared on social media. Food trucks will be on-site throughout the afternoon, including Latin Chicks, Jamaica Taste, Red Taco Food Truck, Naked Dog and Kona Ice.

The Mediation Center will present the 2026 Peacebuilder Awards, which honor and recognize local peacebuilders in a range of categories, at 3:10 p.m., followed by a Peace Walk at 3:30 p.m. and giant human peace sign formation.
