First Friday for Folk Music

Join us for an evening of acoustic music. Tonight’s performance features local artists who gather to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Savannah Folk Music Society: Joe Nelson & James Pittman will perform their favorite old time and country tunes; John Powers & Dan Cooper, John’s original songs and folk favorites; Melanie Mirande, classic 60’s folk music of Joan Baez, Joni Mitchel, and Judy Collins; and Chris Desa with his exceptional guitar skills, classics from Arlo Guthrie and Bob Dylan. We will end the evening with a traditional sing along of This Land is Your Land and Goodnight Irene to honor our nation and our organization.
First Friday for Folk Music offers a fantastic music listening experience: live acoustic music by local and traveling artists, low admission fee, alcohol free, non-smoking, secular event, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Admission is free for this one time event.
