Event Details

The Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) is proud to announce its upcoming Summer Gathering, hosted at the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Gutstein Gallery from July 17 to 20, 2025. This year’s theme—Reconnect, Reimagine, and Reignite—welcomes artists, curators, and cultural workers from across the country for a weekend of panels, workshops, and intentional community-building. All events are free and open to the public.

The Summer Gathering features three public programs:

Alternative Spaces for Exhibitions and Art Events
Friday, July 18th at 5:30 p.m.
Not every exhibition needs white walls and a gallery nameplate. Join us in Savannah for Alternative Spaces for Exhibitions and Art Events, a panel discussion that reimagines how and where art can be shared.
Hosted by Allicette Torres, founder of Revolú Gallery and a WCA Northeast Chair and UN Director, this panel features speakers, artist-organizer Emily Gabrielle (Yonkers Museum of Art) and Lulu Jiang (Hot Water Cool Art), who explore what it means to create, curate, and collaborate outside traditional institutions.

The Artist’s Path
Saturday, July 19th at 9:15 a.m.
An intergenerational panel exploring what it means to live a creative life. Panelists Sandra Davis (WCA National President), Holly Matthews (SCAD painting professor), Sydney A. Foster (photographer, curator, military veteran), and Derriann Pharr (visual artist) will reflect on defining moments in their personal and professional journeys—sharing how art, identity, and purpose evolve across a lifetime.

Peace by Piece Project with Njeri Kinuthia
Saturday, July 19th at 4:30 p.m.
This global textile initiative invites attendees to join a live collaborative sewing session. Originally founded by Barbara E. Verchot of Wings of Peace International and now led by artist Njeri Kinuthia, Peace by Piece includes contributions from participants in eleven countries—each square reflecting an individual’s personal vision of peace beyond the absence of war.
