The Girl Who Wore Freedom, an evocative documentary, brings viewers to the historic shores of Normandy, France, a region forever marked by the harrowing events of World War II. Through the eyes of French survivors and American veterans, the film recounts the stories of liberation, gratitude, and enduring bonds forged during the Allied invasion on June 6, 1944.
Featuring emotional interviews with individuals like Dany Patrix, Maurice Lecoueur, and Henri-Jean Renaud, the documentary delves into the journey from German occupation to freedom, exploring themes of forgiveness and pride. Highlights include visits to Brecourt Manor, a critical battle site for Easy Company – the famed “Band of Brothers” – and personal accounts from children of D-Day, who were cared for by American soldiers after losing their families.
The film also follows Flo Plana on his mission to preserve the stories of World War II veterans for the Utah Beach D-Day Museum, introducing viewers to heroes such as Ceo Bauer, Charles Shay, and Bob DeVinney. Their reflections, alongside the stories of French civilians, paint a vivid portrait of a generation’s resilience.
Today, Normandy stands as a living war museum, a testament to the sacrifices made for freedom. The documentary concludes with contemporary celebrations of D-Day, where the French continue to honor the American soldiers who helped free their land.
The Girl Who Wore Freedom is a moving reminder that freedom comes at a cost, and those who defended it will never be forgotten.

This group is hosted by Carmen and focuses on Yogic style meditation. All participants have the option of a chair or a mat and bolster to sit on, but feel free to bring a zafu/zabutan if you have one you like to use!
All spiritual practice, across all religions, starts with some form of meditation! Meditation is simply the practice of stilling and focusing the mind on a single point to gain insight, deeper awareness, and the ability to work with the subtle energetic world.
Some benefits of meditation:
Anxiety and stress reduction
Inner peace
Heightened spiritual senses
Improved manifestation
Self-awareness
More easeful day-to-day living
Each session begins with a group discussion and q&a with an experienced meditation teacher. We will then have 10-20 minutes of practice together. All levels are encouraged to come, and chairs will be available. Some classes may begin with gentle stretching and may incorporate gentle movement, depending on what the group would like to do that day! Please wear comfortable clothing.

The Davenport House Museum, an award-winning property owned and operated by Historic Savannah Foundation, is pleased to announce special Moonlight Mourning tours on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. These immersive evening tours will invite Davenport House Museum guests to step into the shadows of the past and learn about the fascinating rituals surrounding death and dying in the 19th century.
Departing every 15 minutes from the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy at 323 East Broughton Street, visitors will be guided through the dimly lit rooms of the 204-year-old Federal-style home, meticulously adorned as they would have been for mourning in early 19th-century Savannah.
The tour provides a unique glimpse into the rituals, practices and traditions that shaped how 19th-century Savannahians — including members of the Gullah Geechee community — coped with loss and honored their departed loved ones. The experience brings to life the customs of an earlier era, offering insight into the deep cultural and historical roots of the city’s past.
Moonlight Mourning tickets are $22 per person and are available for purchase online at davenporthousemuseum.org.

THE STORY:
Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist.
One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken.
But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend-almost-in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.
Directed by DJ Queenan for the Tybee Arts Association

From the people who brought you the film America’s Most Haunted City, we’re kicking off your Halloween Season right with Savannah’s Lady In Mourning showing you the spirit world of Savannah done right, Fresh from Bonaventure Cemetery, Doctor Buzzard has raised Savannah’s Victorian Lady In Mourning to tell you about what makes the spirit world ablaze with spirits in the bonfire of hauntings that is Savannah, Georgia. From an evil house where the owner conducted Black Masses against his enemies before murdering his lover, to morgue tunnels where thousands were transported to their forever state, or a dinner party where the sister of an assassinated man returns on a loop in search of justice for her family, and the root woman who took a daughter’s bed to atone for a curse, learn all and more of how this old town above a seedy port ultimately became America’s Most Haunted City. And Much More! Attendees receive a special download code for the pioneering documentary of the same name by founder, Shannon Scott.

Isabel Toledo ‘A Love Letter’
Honoring beloved Cuban-born, American fashion designer Isabel Toledo, A Love Letter is a posthumous homage to the enduring resonance of her work, curated in close collaboration with her husband, artist and fashion illustrator Ruben Toledo. Her designs were guided by emotions, rather than concepts, which she translated into elegant, impeccably crafted garments — radical in their construction yet supremely wearable. The exhibit is open now through December 16th.
