Join us for a special fundraising screening event of the powerful documentary film, The Price of Hope, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at the Savannah Visitor Information Center.
The Price of Hope shares firsthand stories of girls in Kimana, Kenya who have been rescued from female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage. In their own words, some of the girls tell incredible stories and share their future hopes and desires.
The film is driven by the compelling perspectives of Dorcus and John Parit who courageously defy long-standing—yet outlawed—practices in Kenya to rescue the girls. Their work is echoed and amplified by local advocates fighting to protect and uplift their community. At the heart of their efforts is the Hope Beyond Transitional Center, a safe haven where girls heal, access quality education, and begin to rebuild their lives.
Can’t make the screening? You can still donate. *All proceeds go directly to the Center.
While the film sheds light on the practices, its heart lies in elevating the voices of the girls—empowering them to inspire hope—and celebrating the vibrant community’s unwavering commitment to reshaping their futures.
Dorcus and John Parit will join in on a moderated discussion with audience members following the film.
This event invites community members, educators, advocates, and global citizens to witness a moving story of resilience, advocacy, and hope while learning about grassroots efforts to protect girls’ rights and expand educational opportunities in Kimana, Kenya.
The film was a collaborative effort between local Savannah educators:
