Celebrate Black History Month through art in this hands-on teen workshop inspired by the history of Black hairstyles from their origin to the ways they were worn throughout history. Hairstyles within Black culture have been worn politically, for survival, resistance, self expression, and celebration. Led by artist Jae Daisy, participants will explore Black history and create portraits with an emphasis on various hairstyles using symbolism, color, text, self expression, and their definition of identity. Appropriate for teens ages 13-18.
