Patty the Cheeseburger's 18th birthday party

Savannah is home to her very own aged fast food phenomenon, Patty the Cheeseburger. In 2008, working towards her MFA in fibers at SCAD, Savannah artist Rubi McGrory embellished and embroidered anything she could poke, stab, sew, or glue, including a McDonald’s cheeseburger. On July 29, 2008, McGrory purchased the cheeseburger, and so she wouldn’t forget the occasion, glued the date on in crystal rhinestones.
The cheeseburger, named Patty, has lived at room temperature in McGrory’s house ever since. Patty shows no signs of decay other than desiccation.
Patty’s 18th birthday will be celebrated at White Whale Craft Ales, 1207 Bull Street, Savannah, on July 25 from 6-9 pm.
Patty ‘s younger sister is a twinkie named Pammy, a few days younger. The two will be joined by a squad of nuggets dressed for a party.
This party is all ages, open to the public. There will be cake.
