Meet the Panelists:
Andrew Sovine
Sovine is a multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and composer originally from Nashville. His work (most notably with Ashley McBryde) has garnered multiple Grammy nominations. In addition to his touring and recording work he also owns and operates The Back Room Record Studio in Savannah, GA. Occasionally he plays loud music with his friends. This has received equal parts praise and criticism.
Dr. Amy Williams
Dr. Williams is a true bridge builder in connecting an organization’s internal community to that in which it lives, and has striven to be a leader in this capacity throughout her career.
Prior to leading the Sav Phil, Dr. Williams served as Managing Director at Camerata Pacifica, where she put in place the building blocks needed to create long-term sustainability. She also held the role of Director of Artistic Administration and Education at the Santa Barbara Symphony and began her arts administration path with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. A classically trained bassoonist, Dr. Williams received her Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College, her Master of Music from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University. She is a past board member of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras and has served on multiple committees over the years.
Dr. Williams is both delighted and honored to be serving the Savannah community through her leadership of the Philharmonic and enjoys discovering all our vibrant region has to offer together with her husband Paul.
Mary Armstrong Dugas
Mary Dugas is currently the Exec. Board Chair for the Savannah Music Festival and Founder/Exec. Director of the Savannah Music Collective. Dugas is a seasoned music industry executive with a distinguished career in artist management that began in 1993 in Athens, GA. She has worked in artist management for notable Georgia artists Widespread Panic and Gregg Allman. Currently, she continues to work on music legacy projects with the Gregg Allman Estate and provides management and marketing consulting for various music and community initiatives.
Mary has a deep-seated passion for music and her hometown of Savannah. She believes in the power of collaboration within the music community. “The concept of uniting the entire Savannah music community for collaboration, professional development, and artist support is fantastic. I’m excited to create an environment where everyone is welcome and we can unlock the full potential of local talent and create a thriving, music scene for all of Savannah to enjoy.”
Jacob E. Evans (Sandwich)
Evans is a Savannah local who has been touring up and down the east coast and gracing the downtown Savannah scene with his soulful pipes. Evans was born in Waycross Ga. and raised in Blackshear Ga. His inspiration to play guitar: Richie Havens. Inspiration to sing: John Legend’s “once again” Inspiration to be free as an artist: System of a Down. If he had to choose a genre, it would be “Alternative Soul”.
