Deep Center’s 2025 Unconference

Deep Center invites educators, leaders, and community members to step outside of “business as usual” and into a day of creativity, connection, and inspiration at its 2025 Unconference: Interrupting the Script, Inviting Wonder. The event will take place on Saturday, November 1, at the Georgia Southern University Armstrong campus.

The Unconference offers a bold reimagining of professional learning, placing educators at the center of experiences that spark curiosity, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose. Rather than traditional sit-and-get sessions, participants will be immersed in interactive, student-centered, and burnout-busting activities designed to reconnect them with their values, passions, and power.
Highlights of the day include:
– Creative Exploration: Hands-on “art class” activities to ignite imagination.
– STEM & Literacy Labs: Instructional activities led by SCCPSS educators and leaders.
– Lunch-n-Learn: Insider conversations on navigating the education system.
– Relationship Building: Opportunities to connect and build relationships with local educators.
– Mindfulness & Restorative Practices: Guided tools for well-being and resilience.
– Instructional Resources: Model visual prompts, cool-down corner strategies, and relationship-building activities.

“This unconference is about being imaginative and playful about how schools could look and feel while being clear-eyed about the day-to-day realities and necessities of being an educator,” said Mel Kutner, Director of Restorative Practice and Culture. “We don’t just talk about possibilities, we show what’s working, right here in Savannah-Chatham schools.”

The event is free to attend and includes lunch, snacks, and materials. Professional learning credit hours are also available. Current and future classroom teachers, instructional coaches, support staff, and building leaders are especially encouraged to join.
