Caleb Borick shot onto the international classical piano scene after winning first prize at the 2023 International Telekom Beethoven Competition (ITBCM) in Bonn, Germany for his interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, accompanied by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under Dirk Kaftan. Also at the ITBCM, he won the audience prize and special prizes for chamber and contemporary music. With playing hailed as “crystal-clear” and “immensely passionate” (General-Anzeiger Bonn), he has been the featured soloist with multiple orchestras, including the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and the South Carolina Philharmonic.

A recent graduate of Eastman School of Music with a dual degree in piano performance and cellular biology, Caleb has earned numerous awards and accolades, including first place in the 2020 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, the 2017 Ronald Sachs International Music Competition, the 2017 SCGSAH Junior Artist Piano Competition, and the 2018 Steinway & Sons Junior Piano Competition. He also was a 2020 National YoungArts Finalist and a U.S. Presidential Scholarship in the Arts Semifinalist.

He has appeared on WPR’s The Midday with Norman Gilliland and on NPR’s From The Top, and participated in numerous music festivals including the Southeastern Piano Festival, International Institute for Young Musicians, the Green Lake Festival of Music, the Cliburn Junior Festival, and MusicFest Perugia, at which he has had masterclasses with artists such as Sasha Starcevich, Alexander Kobrin, and Boris Slutsky.

The program for this recital will feature Brahms’ Six Pieces for Piano, Op. 118 and his Four Pieces for Piano, Op. 119, as well as Beethoven’s titanic Piano Sonata No. 32 in c minor, Op. 111.
