The Savannah Technical College Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Club invites the local community to “Step Out & Make a Difference” at the 5th Annual Child Abuse and Autism Awareness Fun-Day & Walk on Saturday, April 18. This free, student-led event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Savannah Tech main campus, located at 5717 White Bluff Road. To ensure a smooth arrival, all attendees are asked to enter the campus exclusively through the Hampstead Avenue entrance.
Embracing the theme “Be a Child’s Sunshine,” participants are encouraged to wear blue to show their commitment to child safety and autism understanding. The morning begins at 9:30 a.m. with registration and a community vendor fair featuring partners like the Live Oak Public Library and the Coastal GA Coalition for Children. Following an opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m. led by ECCE Program Chair Mrs. Grant, the official awareness walk will guide participants through educational stations focused on prevention and positive parenting.
In addition to the walk and resources, Savannah Tech Barbering students will be on-site to provide free haircuts to attendees, showcasing their skills in service of the community. This grassroots event is dedicated strictly to education and awareness, aiming to re-engage families and provide vital support after a one-year hiatus. While registration is available in person on the day of the event, participants are encouraged to pre-register online through the official Facebook event page.
