Event Details

The Forsyth Farmers’ Market will celebrate 15 years of supporting local farmers, strengthening Savannah’s food system and expanding access to fresh, locally grown food at a special Farm-R-Que event. This family-friendly celebration is open to the public.

Grilled barbecue will be served along with delectable side dishes that showcase Savannah’s vibrant agricultural and culinary scene. Additional event highlights include live music by local funk band Nickel Bag of Funk and fun kids activities.

All Farm-R-Que proceeds benefit local farmers and Forsyth Farmers’ Market’s programming, including 912 Food Farmacy, Farm Truck 912, Harvest to Table and Forsyth Family Farm Share. These community-focused initiatives are designed to promote food access, sustainability and health equity in the greater Savannah area.

Event Details

Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF) – the leading nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to saving the buildings, places and stories that define Savannah’s past, present and future – will celebrate the pinnacle of preservation at the 2024 HSF Preservation Awards. At this special awards ceremony, Historic Savannah Foundation will recognize projects, individuals, organizations and companies exemplifying excellence in preservation in Savannah and Chatham County.

The winners of these prestigious awards are selected from nominations of projects that were completed within the past three years and fall within at least one of several categories: restoration, rehabilitation, new construction, stewardship, craftsmanship or archaeology. A jury of local professionals in architecture, preservation, academia and urban planning selects the projects that represent the pinnacle of preservation to be honored at Savannah’s premier National Preservation Month event.

The 2024 HSF Preservation Awards event is open to the public and will feature the Big Bon Bodega Pizza Truck, beer and wine. Attendees are invited to wear casual attire and to enjoy delicious food and great company.

Lead event sponsors include Galvan Foundation, Queensborough National Bank and Trust Company, Landmark Preservation and Felder & Associates Architecture and Design. Legacy of Leadership aims to celebrate the history of Girl Scouts and showcase the current Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The event will recognize influential leaders of the past, present, and future of Girl Scouts in Savannah. Mary Morrison is receiving the Legacy of Leadership Award – our exclusive award for Girl Scouts that honors a woman who reflects the values in the Girl Scout Promise and Law and who serves as an excellent role model for girls. Girl Scout alum, Dr. Denise Watts, SCCPSS Superintendent of Schools, will serve as the keynote speaker, an example of the present day leaders in Savannah. Current Girl Scout, Ella S., will be recognized as our Young Leader, due to her hard work in helping shape the next generation of leaders though the Girl Scouts program.

Event Details

TEDxSavannah, an independently organized celebration of ideas worth spreading based on the international TED talk phenomenon, will return in 2024 with an exciting half-day showcase featuring a diverse group of local speakers focusing on the theme of Convergence. Tickets are currently available at tedxsavannah.com.

The highly anticipated 2024 TEDxSavannah event will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Fine Arts Auditorium at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus, located at 11935 Abercorn St. in Savannah, Ga. Doors will open at noon.

The 2024 TEDxSavannah event will feature thought-provoking talks by area residents and thrilling live performances. Each TEDxSavannah speaker is limited to a maximum of 12 minutes to present an interesting talk influenced by the theme and of interest to the Savannah community. Live talks will be filmed and posted on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel, which has more than 39 million subscribers, following the event.

TEDxSavannah tickets are currently on sale, which include seating, onsite parking, snacks, coffee and admission to the speaker meet-and-greet immediately following the main TEDxSavannah event. Early bird, VIP and nonprofit/student/educator/first responder/active-duty military tickets are available for purchase online at tedxsavannah.com. Groups of more than six attendees can receive a 10% discount on the price of their tickets by contacting Allison Hersh at allison@capricorncomm.com.

During Vacation Bible School, join first-time camp, Counselor Sam, and Lumen, “Lu,” the lightning bug puppet, for a summer adventure at Camp Firelight. Campers accompany Counselor Sam and Lu during each assembly session and learn to face their fears while trusting in God. Each day, Campers see Counselor Sam face new challenges, from as simple as leading Campers on a hike to as intimidating as meeting a new and wise nature expert. With the help of Lu, the Lightning Bug, and the Camp Counselor Guidebook, Counselor Sam and the Campers explore timeless Bible stories showing how Old and New Testament Campers trusted God, faced their fears, and went on to do remarkable things in God’s name.
As Campers experience the stories through music, drama and storytelling, games, arts and crafts, science, and even snacks, they learn ways to connect with and trust God. And best of all, they understand they can connect with God at VBS, church, home, and every area of their lives. This unique Vacation Bible School program from Cokesbury Kids VBS invites children on an exciting journey where they learn to trust God no matter what situation life brings, know God is always with them, and feel confident in sharing the good news of God’s love through Jesus Christ.
