Habitat for Humanity and NAWIC Announce Schedule for 2023 Women's Build Month

Women’s Build Month Kicks Off March 1st, “Girls Play House, Women Build Them”

Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity along with the National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) of Coastal Georgia, announce their partnership for the inaugural Women’s Build Month to take place during March 2023. Women’s Build events allow individuals to support Habitat’s mission of “building homes, community, and hope,” in whatever capacity they are able.

Offering a multitude of events throughout the month, this year’s theme, “Girls play house, women build them,” focuses on empowering women to take a proactive step in serving Chatham County. No construction experience is necessary and opportunities range from assisting in build days to networking, social hours, raffles and benefit nights to support Habitat. A Women’s Owned Marketplace will be the culminating event of the inaugural series.

“I am so excited about our partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the impact that we can have together through Women Build/ Women In Construction Week,” says Jessica Leavitt, NAWIC Chair. “This month-long initiative is near to dear to our organization. I believe that Habitat and NAWIC have shared values around giving back as well as empowerment and mentorship. We are looking forward to a successful month of engaging conversation and building community."

Ways to get involved include:

  • Participation & Sponsorship: different levels of sponsorship can be tailored to fit the individual, group, or organization. These include a variety of involvement, but keep the focus of empowering women at the forefront. The first Build Day will take place Saturday, March 4th. A full calendar of events can be found on Habitat’s website.

  • Donation: for those interested in supporting this initiative, a fundraising page has been created. Every donation matters! You can donate to your favorite team or support the event as a whole. https://www.donorrise.com/HabitatSavannah/WB23
