“Celebrate the Season” in City Market Postponed to Dec. 12 & 13

Savannah City Market will kick off the holiday season with its event series, “Celebrate the Season” on Friday, Dec. 12, from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec.13, from 1-3 p.m. The series was initially scheduled for Dec. 5 and Dec. 6, but has been postponed due to inclement weather. The month-long celebration will highlight City Market’s restaurants, shops and artists, in collaboration with local nonprofits and musicians.

“Celebrate the Season” was created to showcase the beauty of Savannah and the unique experiences available in City Market. With over 40 merchants, City Market is a hub for local artists, restaurants, museums and retail businesses. People of all ages, locals and visitors alike, will have a memorable holiday experience in City Market with lights, decor and events.

“Savannah City Market is glowing with holiday spirit this season, creating a cheerful place to shop, gather and enjoy festive entertainment while supporting the local businesses that are the heartbeat of Savannah,” says Robert Tulloch, Co-Owner of Savannah City Market. “We invite everyone to come celebrate with us, share in the joy of the season and make warm memories together in City Market.”

On Friday, Dec. 12, from 6-8 p.m., the weekend will begin with the City Market Tree Lighting. Guests are invited to meet in front of Wexford’s at 6:15 p.m. for a candle-lit procession to the City Market Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring Kim Gunn Music. Afterwards, explore City Market for special shopping deals, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus and join the Holiday Duck Search for festive prizes.

The celebration continues with an afternoon of holiday fun on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1-3 p.m. Sing along at open-mic Christmas karaoke in the courtyard, shop local in retail stores and art studios for one-of-a-kind gifts and enjoy kids’ activities, face painting and photos with Father Christmas. New this year, Woof Gang Bakery is hosting a pet holiday costume contest and pet parade. Guests will meet in front of Woof Gang Bakery at 2:15 p.m. for the parade and costume contest.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, from 1-3 p.m., Father Christmas will be in City Market for photos. Throughout the day, City Market will be filled with live music, shopping specials and entertainment.

A beautifully decorated carriage provided by Carriage Tours of Savannah will be available for photos through the new year.
