Eastern Wharf will host a special July 4th celebration featuring a free community concert by Savannah’s favorite big band, the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, on Saturday, July 4th from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Park at Eastern Wharf, the largest public green space on the Savannah River. The annual event in The Park at Eastern Wharf, which began in 2023, has become one of Savannah’s most beloved Independence Day celebrations.
The July 4th festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. with a “Summer of Soul” theme featuring curated house music by Savannah Stopover, followed by a special New Orleans style second-line parade, which will wind through The Park at Eastern Wharf and feature a brass band procession with the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra and other special guests. Attendees are encouraged to bring traditional parade props, including parasols, handkerchiefs and festive July 4th attire. Mardi Gras-style beads, doubloons and additional items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The full Equinox Orchestra will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra is known for high-energy shows featuring great songs, original arrangements and impressive musicianship. Inspired by the style and swagger of legendary entertainers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., bandleaders Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson bring a rich camaraderie and Southern charm to the stage. Audiences across America and around the world have fallen in love with the group’s interpretations of the Great American songbook and performances of favorite melodies from Motown, country, folk and rock genres, serving up a musical banquet that feeds every soul.
Following the concert, Savannah’s Waterfront will put on a dazzling fireworks show perfectly synched to patriotic tunes at approximately 9:30 p.m. The Savannah Riverwalk along The Park at Eastern Wharf offers prime views of the fireworks display.
General admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and small, personal coolers to enjoy the live music performance and festivities.

2026 Summer Exhibition at ARTSTRYNGS Gallery
Benefitting the Savannah Music Festival
Opening Reception: Friday, July 10th 6-8pm
Closing Reception: Friday, August 21st 6-8pm
Admission: Free
ARTSTRYNGS Gallery is pleased to present SUMMER FREQUENCIES, a vibrant group exhibition celebrating the intersection of music, movement, and the sensory spirit of summer. Opening July 10 and on view through August 21, 2026, the exhibition brings together a diverse collection of artists whose works explore the visual language of music through expressive brushwork, luminous color, texture, rhythm, and emotion.
Inspired by the energy of music and summertime nostalgia, SUMMER FREQUENCIES transforms the gallery into an immersive exhibition where viewers can experience sound as visual form. Across painting, collage, ceramics, mixed media, and furniture design, each work interprets a visual frequency—capturing vibrations carried through warm evening air, sun-soaked days, coastal breezes, joyful celebrations, and timeless seasonal memories.
Blending fine art with rhythm and emotion, the exhibition invites viewers to experience art as frequency: layered, immersive, and alive. Guests are encouraged to gaze across the canvases while listening to the silent yet audible, visual vibration of each work of art, told in paint strokes and rhythm—a highly curated exhibition where each piece embodies sound and the vibration of summer.
Featured Artists:
— Michelle Murphy’s lyrical paint strokes and melodic movement compose a visual symphony on canvas.
— Eric Woodell’s transcendental, vibrational collages produce visual auditory sound waves.
— Brian Gilbert’s rhythmic reverberations and vibrant graphic compositions create a visual soundtrack of summer vibes.
— Penelope Moore’s fluid, improvisational strokes crescendo in color and expression.
— Cora Ennis’ work expresses the staccato tempo of nature, told by the visual rhythm of leaves trembling and swaying in the coastal breeze.
— Mia Amanda’s ceramics pause childhood melodies into stillness, color and form.
— Jade Wells’ modern-retro chair encourages a down tempo chill while the colorful, tactile fabric and groovy design instigates movement and rhythm.
— Rena Southern’s enveloping prismatic and immersive color stories swell and pulse like the jubilance of an energetic brass band enticing the viewer to participate.
— Paul Billips’s mind-bending compositions of tiny percussive marks, orchestrate multidimensional visual soundscapes to enter up close.
— Jim Cone’s cubist renditions are a fusion of blues, jazz, and rock and roll, each rooted in soul and playful imagination that take the viewer on a journey into faceted visual ballads and folk narratives.
Each selected work resonates like a song—translating tempo, atmosphere, and sensation into visual form. From bold compositions to fluid gestures, SUMMER FREQUENCIES celebrates the connection between sound, movement, and the nostalgia of summer.
Art with Impact:
SUMMER FREQUENCIES is proud to support the Savannah Music Festival, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, with 10% of all exhibition art sales donated to the organization’s year-round music education and community outreach programs. Through initiatives like the SMF Jazz Academy, Musical Explorers, and free student access to performances, the Festival enriches the cultural fabric of Savannah while providing thousands of local students with transformative arts education opportunities at no cost.

This exhibition will mainly cover agricultural practices and beliefs in Burkina Faso and Mali, which are within the savanna and forest areas of the Western Sudan region (South Saharan). Most of these lands can be difficult to cultivate, to control, so the farmers in these regions have to continuously strike a bargain with the spirits of the uncultivated terrain. This happens through unique festivals, ceremonies, and agricultural societies, which will be the topic of this exhibition.
The wilderness is significant in many African cosmologies because it is the inverse of culture – so by describing its characteristics, the ideal characteristics of African society can be defined. Many communities are organized into three realms, the spiritual, the physical, and the in-between. The physical realm is the controllable realm – it is orderly, governed by laws, and includes cultivated fields and domesticated animals. The wilderness is beyond human control so it is unpredictable, potentially dangerous, but there are powers to be harnessed as it can also be a source of medicine, sustenance, and wisdom. This exhibition will present a brief overview of the beliefs associated with the wilderness and the agricultural practices that follow, to show how these concepts translated into social experiences and visible form through selected artifacts from the Savannah African Art Museum.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum—an acclaimed museum in Savannah, Ga. dedicated to celebrating and preserving America’s maritime legacy—is delighted to present “Drawn to the Sea: Maritime Stories From Savannah,” an exciting new sequential art exhibition and comic book featuring nautical-inspired, mixed-media art by four contemporary artists. The exhibit will run through January 31, 2027, showcasing original art designed to interpret the historic voyages of the iconic Savannah ships Anne, SS Savannah, Pulaski and Wanderer.
Featured “Drawn to the Sea” artists include Lucy Bellwood, Avery Hick, Rich King and Sharon Norwood.
Lucy Bellwood, a professional adventure cartoonist based in Ojai, Calif., focuses on the Anne, the legendary vessel that carried James Edward Oglethorpe and the first group of English colonists to Georgia in 1733.
Avery Hick, a SCAD graduate and Level Ground Comics Executive Editor, explores life aboard the SS Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean, marking a bold turning point in maritime history.
Rich King—who has published five books about the ocean, including Ahab’s Rolling Sea: A Natural History of Moby-Dick, Ocean Bestiary and Sailing Alone—drew inspiration from the Pulaski, a luxury steamship that suffered a catastrophic boiler explosion off the coast of North Carolina in 1838, killing approximately 130 people. He is an accomplished author and illustrator who is based in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Sharon Norwood, a Jamaican-born interdisciplinary artist who lives in Savannah, Ga., takes a deep dive into life aboard the Wanderer, one of the last ships to illegally transport enslaved Africans to the United States. In 1858, more than 50 years after the transatlantic slave trade had been outlawed, the vessel secretly carried more than 400 captive Africans across the Atlantic, landing near the coast of Georgia and sparking international outrage.
In addition to the exhibition, there is a special “Drawn to the Sea” comic book available for purchase at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum Gift Shop. The comic book was designed and published by Lee Heidel, owner and managing partner of Neighborhood Comics in Savannah, and Tania June Sammons, curator at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum.
Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admission at 4:30 p.m.). Tickets are $17.50 for adults; $14.50 for students, seniors 65 , active-duty military and veterans; and free for children ages 5 and under. Discounted family and group tickets are also available. “Seven Ladies” is a new exhibition focused on Katharine Judkins Clark, Elinor Adler Dillard, Anna Colquitt Hunter, Lucy Barrow McIntire, Dorothy Ripley Roebling, Nola McEvoy Roos and Jane Adair Wright. Together, these “Seven Ladies” joined forces to purchase and protect the Isaiah Davenport House, an 1820 Federal-style home on Columbia Square, from being razed and founded Historic Savannah Foundation, a permanent organization dedicated to saving and preserving historic buildings throughout the city. The Seven Ladies kick-started Savannah’s modern-day preservation movement in 1955.
Through historic photographs, archival materials and interpretative storytelling, this inspiring exhibition explores each of these influential women, including their personal histories, lived experiences and the convictions that compelled them to serve their community at a pivotal moment in Savannah’s history.

With support from our generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and community partners, My Veterans Place has assisted hundreds of veterans and their families through programs designed to strengthen bonds and rebuild lives. We understand that even one missed paycheck, a medical emergency, or an unexpected expense can push a veteran household into crisis.
Our approach is rooted in compassion, rapid response, and restoring hope during crises. We are not just cutting a ribbon; we are opening doors to opportunity and healing for those who served.
