​​Ships of the Sea will unveil Sea of Ink: Savannah Maritime Tattoos, an extraordinary exhibit showcasing the art and cultural significance of tattoos. Featuring more than a dozen Savannah-area tattoo artists and over 30 maritime tattoo collectors, Sea of Ink highlights tattoos as a meaningful art form and cultural movement.

With one-third of American adults having at least one tattoo, this visual language is rich for exploration. Sea of Ink presents the tattoo not just as body art, but as a powerful instrument for storytelling. Tattoos tell stories that often are deeply meaningful to the collector, and are a result of an artistic understanding between the tattoo creator and the collector.​​

Telfair Museums presents a solo exhibition of iconic digital art by Jim Campbell (b. 1956), whose light-based works explore the limits of human perception. Holding degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from MIT, along with patents for his work in development of high-definition video, Campbell is widely known for his low-resolution moving images created by arrays of LEDS. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to the San Francisco-based artist’s works in the Southeast and will coincide with Telfair’s 2025 PULSE Art Technology Festival.

‘Venice and the Ottoman Empire’ brings more than 100 artworks from Venice’s largest and oldest museums to Telfair for a rare glimpse into this intriguing center of exchange. It features paintings, costume, textiles, leatherwork, metalwork, and ceramics from the 15th through 18th centuries that are not often exhibited outside of Italy, including works recovered from a shipwreck. Visitors also will learn about how these historical designs inspired 20th-century textile and fashion designer Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo to create the luminous fabrics that are still manufactured in Venice and prized by connoisseurs today.

Drawn from Telfair Museums’ permanent collection, Primary: Artists Working in Red, Yellow, and Blue explores how artists have utilized primary colors in adventurous ways to elicit brilliant experiences. Featuring works by Roy Lichtenstein, Ellsworth Kelly, and Joan Miró, these energetic and dynamic compositions introduce viewers to the expansive possibilities of a simple palette.

Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, the iconic Southern candy store and confectionery that made Georgia pralines a worldwide favorite will hold its inaugural Founder’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 29, 2025. This celebration is being held to honor and remember founder Stan “The Candy Man” Strickland on what will be his 81st birthday. Ten percent of all praline sales, in stores and online, will benefit People of Action Caring for Kids or P.A.C.K. Savannah, a non-profit that provides weekend meals for food-insecure children in Chatham County. The event will be held at Savannah’s Candy Kitchen locations, as well as through mail order and online sales.

To celebrate 100 years of service to America, the United States Navy Concert Band, Sea Chanters chorus and Cruisers popular music group join forces for a series of performances across Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Florida, March 11 – April 2. ‘The Story of My Life’ is a heartwarming musical presented by Asbury Memorial Theatre on March 28 and 29 at 7:00 PM and March 30 at 3:00 PM at the Asbury Memorial Church, located at 1008 E. Henry Street in Savannah. The performance on March 29 features a silent auction plus an intermission for additional bidding time. 100% of ticket sales and silent auction proceeds directly benefit the Hospice Savannah Story Keeper’s Program and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Audiences will explore the power of friendship and the influence of shared memories as local actors tell the story of two childhood best friends, Thomas Weaver, a successful but emotionally distant writer, and Alvin Kelby, a quirky and loyal small-town bookseller.

Esteemed Grammy-nominated vocalist Catherine Russell and celebrated pianist Sean Mason join forces for this opening Savannah Music Festival concert at District Live. Catherine Russell and Sean Mason share a profound connection that transcends their impressive individual talents. Both masters of jazz, their repertoires span the vast landscape of African-American and American popular music, from the blues and R&B to the Great American Songbook, Broadway, Hollywood, and Tin Pan Alley. This collaboration represents a unique convergence of experience and youthful virtuosity, offering a fresh yet timeless sound. “Singing with the great pianist Sean Mason allows for the freedom to have fun and be in the moment. We understand each other,” says Russell.

Son cubano is one of the most popular musical styles in Cuba, and Kiki Valera is one of its foremost exponents. Over the last century, this style of traditional Cuban music has contributed to many other genres of music, including jazz, cha cha cha, mambo, salsa, songo and timba. Kiki Valera is the oldest son of the famous La Familia Valera Miranda septet, a multi-generational traditional music group from Santiago de Cuba. Since the 19th century, La Familia Valera Miranda has played a significant role in Cuban culture by collecting and preserving the deep-rooted traditions of the legendary Sierra Maestra mountain region. A multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and producer, he’s best known as one of the world’s greatest players of the Cuban cuatro, a mid-size guitar with 8 strings grouped in sets of 2. His current project features several other internationally acclaimed recording artists and is sure to keep audiences on their feet.

Five-time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo is one of the greatest artists in international music today—a creative force with sixteen albums to her name. Time Magazine has called her “Africa’s premier diva” and named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2021. The BBC has included her in its list of the continent’s 50 most iconic figures, and in 2011 The Guardian listed her as one of their Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World. Forbes Magazine has ranked Kidjo as the first woman in their list of the Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa. She is the recipient of the prestigious 2015 Crystal Award given by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the 2016 Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience Award, the 2018 German Sustainability Award, the 2023 Vilcek Prize in Music, and the 2023 Polar Music Prize. As a polyglot performer, her striking voice, stage presence and fluency in multiple cultures and languages have won the respect of her peers and expanded her following across national borders. Kidjo has cross-pollinated the West African traditions of her childhood in Benin with elements of American R&B, funk and jazz, as well as influences from Europe and Latin America. East Nash Grass, a standout band from Nashville’s vibrant music scene, built its reputation on nightly performances around Music City’s East side. What began as a casual weekly bluegrass night at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge gradually evolved into a dedicated group, eventually becoming one of bluegrass’s top young bands. In 2024, they won the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) “New Artist of the Year” award, with members highly sought after as side musicians for genre stars. Whether playing bluegrass Mondays at Dee’s or on the Ryman Auditorium stage, East Nash Grass brings swagger, skill, and high energy to every performance.
Bronwyn Keith-Hynes is renowned as a prolific instrumentalist, earning two IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year awards and a Grammy for her work with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. Her new solo album, I Built a World, also showcases her impressive vocal abilities. As a child, she transitioned from music lessons to public performances, especially in Irish music, after her family moved to Charlottesville, Virginia. Her lifelong music education, including the American Roots Music program at Berklee and Savannah Music Festival’s Acoustic Music Seminar, continues to shape her work. She blends traditional bluegrass with personal expression, saying, “My favorite bluegrass musicians are rooted in tradition but don’t see boundaries.”
