Throughout her storied career, actress Glenn Close has collaborated closely with costume designers to help bring the characters she embodies to life. Inspired by the creativity and craftsmanship she saw in her film and theater productions, she began collecting and preserving costumes and accessories from her projects after her first movie, The World According to Garp (1982). In 2017, she donated her over 800-piece collection to the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection in the School of Art, Architecture Design at Indiana University.
First presented at the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University in 2020, The Art of the Character: Highlights from the Glenn Close Costume Collection will offer visitors a unique opportunity to thoroughly explore the careful consideration and exacting details that teams of designers, drapers, and other craftspeople created in over 50 ensembles and numerous examples of jewelry, shoes, and other accessories. It will feature the work of award-winning costume designers, including Anthony Powell (1935–2021), Ann Roth (b. 1949), James Acheson (b. 1946), and Alexandra Byrne (b. 1962), and costumers like Barbara Matera Ltd (active 1968–2001), from 14 of Close’s best-loved movies.
This exhibition is organized by Telfair Museums in partnership with the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection at the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design of Indiana University.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum—an acclaimed museum dedicated to celebrating and preserving America’s maritime legacy—is delighted to present “Beyond the Plate: Sea and Sky,” an exciting new solo exhibition
Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum—an acclaimed museum dedicated to celebrating and preserving America’s maritime legacy—is delighted to present “Beyond the Plate: Sea and Sky,” an exciting new solo exhibition featuring nautical-inspired, mixed-media art by Rob Strati, from September 25, 2025 through April 12, 2026.
“Beyond the Plate” will showcase new work by one of America’s hottest contemporary artists. Strati has recently enjoyed sold-out exhibits at Duane Reed Gallery in St. Louis and FREMIN Gallery in New York and has sold work to top international art collectors in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai and beyond. Strati’s art incorporates broken porcelain plates that have been embellished and adorned with creative details. The exhibition features the artist’s latest bold, kinetic mixed-media works and limited-edition prints as well as an ambitious site-specific installation that will be suspended from the ceiling of the Ships of the Sea atrium.
Strati’s latest series was inspired by a porcelain plate from his wife’s late mother, which accidentally fell and broke into fragments. In order to preserve the shards of the shattered plate, and the memory of someone vitally important to both him and his wife, the artist began working on his “Fragmented” series, using pen and paper to “explore the possibilities of things broken and the stories that can evolve from the pieces left behind.”
Each piece of Strati’s art starts with the breaking of a porcelain plate and takes approximately two weeks to complete. Although the artist is rigorous about his creative process, he always allows space for spontaneous ideas to emerge from the fragments. Over time, he has learned important lessons about art and life by creating new works of art from broken shards.
Strati describes his work as a “mix of chaos and control” that is constantly evolving. He hopes his upcoming exhibition at Ships of the Sea will inspire visitors to think about time, creativity and beauty in fresh, new ways. All of the art in “Beyond the Plate” will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum.
ABOUT ROBERT STRATI: Originally from Boston, Strati grew up in Columbus, Ohio and earned a B.A. in History of Art from Ohio State University. His art has been exhibited at leading international museums and art galleries and has been featured in The Art Newspaper, Whitehot Magazine, Reclaim, Beaux Arts, Sculpture Magazine, Vice and The Village Voice. Strati’s work and “Beyond the Plate” will also be featured in ARTS Southeast’s fall issue of IMPACT Magazine in October 2025.

The Davenport House Museum will present “Holiday Traditions and Experiences of the Enslaved Community” in partnership with Gullah-Geechee Master Storyteller Patt Gunn and the Saltwata Players on Friday, December 26
The Davenport House Museum will present “Holiday Traditions and Experiences of the Enslaved Community” in partnership with Gullah-Geechee Master Storyteller Patt Gunn and the Saltwata Players on Friday, December 26 and Saturday, December 27 at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m.; 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Through engaging and immersive interpretation, guests will explore holiday traditions of the enslaved through song, dance and spirituality.
Between 1812 and 1828, there were as many as 13 enslaved persons who occupied and held a range of responsibilities at the Davenport House on Columbia Square. These thought-provoking tours are designed to help local residents and visitors understand the historic experiences of enslaved workers who resided in the Federal-style home during the holiday season.
Patt Gunn is a Gullah-Geechee “daughter of the soil of Savannah” who founded the Geechee Institute in 1992. Over the years, she has developed festivals, hosted lectures and spearheaded oral history projects for the Savannah community. She founded Underground Tours of Savannah in 2017 to share the history of her ancestors and to lead tours focused on Savannah’s African-American and Gullah-Geechee history. Most recently, she led a three-year campaign that resulted in renaming Calhoun Square in honor of African-American nurse and educator Susie King Taylor.
The Davenport House Museum’s “Holiday Traditions and Experiences of the Enslaved Community” tours are $50 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available online at davenporthousemuseum.org.

THE NAUGHTY LIST
Back and better than ever, The Naughty List returns to The Vinyl Room for six festive weeks of cheeky holiday fun. The Naughty List is not your typical Christmas pop-up: this adults-only experience completely transforms The Vinyl Room into a sultry speakeasy with a spicy holiday twist. You’re on our list: for a taste of the not-so-nice festivities, add The Naughty List at The Vinyl Room Savannah to your holiday plans today.
But this year, there’s another side to the story.
THE NICE LIST
Up on the rooftop, The Nice List is making its sparkling debut at Pendant Terrace & Bar.The golden child to The Naughty List’s wild side, The Nice List brings a brighter, more playful spirit of the season to Pendant Terrace & Bar. This rooftop pop-up is designed for all ages with festive décor, twinkling lights, and cozy touches that make it the perfect place to gather. Bring family and friends to soak in the views, share sweet treats, and celebrate the magic of the season together.
This year’s installation leans into vintage Christmas charm: think classic holiday films playing overhead, timeless décor pieces that feel lovingly collected, and a few nostalgic surprises. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and meant to feel like the holidays always should feel: familiar, joyful, and just the right amount of sentimental.
To keep things comfortable no matter the weather, we’ve added plenty of heaters and soft blankets, making it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The menu highlights cozy dishes designed for sharing.
THE EXPERIENCE
For those who find themselves somewhere between sweet and scandalous, we present The Nice & Naughty Experience.
This self-guided evening moves you through both of our holiday pop-ups: The Nice List above, The Naughty List below. Santa, to put it gently, enjoyed Mrs. Claus’s eggnog a bit too enthusiastically this year. A few tasks were abandoned mid-festivity, and now he’s calling in reinforcements.
As you move between the two spaces, you’ll take part in a series of lighthearted challenges meant to help set Santa back on track. You’ll enjoy three curated cocktails along the way, uncover clues, trade theories, solve simple puzzles and trivia, and even take a cheeky holiday mugshot to commemorate the particular flavor of mischief that brought you here.
It’s an evening that lets you enjoy both sides of the coin, because most of us don’t fit neatly on one list or the other. And truly? That’s half the fun.
