Join Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s Fisheries Specialist, Bryan Fluech, for a free, introductory webinar exploring Georgia’s local seafood scene. Bryan will discuss what seafood is harvested in our state, how fisheries are managed sustainably, and the many ways Georgians can access and enjoy local seafood.

Whether you’re a seafood enthusiast or just curious about what’s on your plate, this virtual program is a great way to dive into Georgia’s coastal resources.

Renegade Paws Rescue and Locally Made Savannah. All proceeds benefit community rescue efforts as part of the
Wag-O-Ween mission!

Climb aboard the UGA Aquarium’s research vessel, the R/V Sea Dawg, for a trawl in Wassaw Sound! Participants will actively contribute to marine sampling efforts by working alongside marine educators to collect, sort, and identify a variety of marine organisms collected as part of the trawl. All data collected contributes to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ marine inventory record, supporting long-term monitoring of local species.

This program also introduces Trawl to Trash, an initiative aimed at preventing marine debris from entering coastal ecosystems. Participants will learn about the negative impacts of marine debris on wildlife and habitats and explore the use of Trawl to Trash bags, created from recycled shrimp nets, to collect and remove debris. Each participant will have the opportunity to construct their own bag to take home and use for collecting trash along Georgia’s coast.

Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. Children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult. Cost: $20.

The multi-day Greek Festival, sponsored by St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, will feature authentic homemade Greek foods and pastries, dancing, a market place (agora), music and so much more.
Church tours of one of Savannah’s most unique structures will also be available for attendees. The Savannah Greek Festival celebrates not only the Greek community but also the diverse and wide-ranging cultures that make up the Orthodox faith.
This much anticipated annual event brings in a tremendous amount of foot traffic over the multi-day festival. This opportunity means valuable exposure for your business. Your advertising will be seen by several thousand attendees and all of the proceeds support the Church as well as local non-profits. Donate some new or gently used books for the cause, then pick up a few new ones from local Savannah authors, representing a variety of genres. The authors do book signings and sales while Book Nation of Dreamers collects book donations for community literacy activities here in Savannah. The authors are local and so are many of the stories. An autographed book set in Savannah makes a great holiday gift.

If you love craft beer, live music, world class BBQ, and delicious whiskey, this event is for you! On October 11th, 2025, we are putting on an event unlike anything Savannah has seen before. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature nationwide event where people of all ages come together to honor loved ones, raise awareness, and fundraise for Alzheimer’s care, support services, and critical research toward a cure.

Savannah’s annual trick-or-treat event for dogs is celebrating 20 YEARS on 2025!
Dress up with you favorite 4-legged friends and humans and trick-or-treat at Savannah businesses from the Riverfront to the Starland District!

Wag-O-Ween supports all participating local animal rescues and shelters from the surrounding counties- support their efforts and meet some of their adoptable dogs while you collect treats!
Funds raised also support the Sara Portman Community Fund, which focuses on community spay and neuter efforts, education, and keeping wanted pets in homes.
