Event Details

After forty five years and numerous sequels, spin-offs, and crossovers, it’s easy to forget the chilling precision and mesmerizing simplicity that makes Ridley Scott’s original film such a shockingly perfect hybrid of horror and science fiction. On their long journey back to Earth, the crew of the Nostromo—a brilliant cast of character actors including Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton, and Jonesy the Cat—are brought out of hypersleep early when their ship detects a “distress signal” from a nearby planet. From its cool, sinister textures to its stomach-churning special effects, this futuristic reinvention of the haunted house movie that introduced the American action heroine with Weaver’s Ripley along with the iconic H.R. Giger designed Xenomorph, is as terrifying as it is strangely beautiful. Featuring an introduction and post-screening conversation with a SCAD professor.

Part of the 45th Film Series.

Tickets for the film are free for SCAD Card holders; $5 for students, military, and seniors; and $8 for the general public.
