SAFE Shelter Center for Domestic Violence Services – the second largest shelter of its kind in the state of Georgia – will host “Every1KnowsSome1,” its Second Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Conference. The keynote speaker will be Jan Christiansen, the Executive Director of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Additional speakers will share tools on how to recognize domestic violence and offer resources to empower victims.
Additional topics will include:
The role of healthcare professionals
Teen dating violence
Domestic violence and mental health
Self-care
The role of PTSD in military and veteran populations
Normalizing abuse
The connections between opioid abuse, domestic violence, and trauma
The event, which is sponsored by Amerigroup RealSolutions and the City of Savannah, is just one of several planned by SAFE Shelter during October in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
