Tribute to Gene Hackman
Head South to the dazzling heart of South Beach for an irresistible and riotously funny comedy cabaret that’s as bold and fabulous as its setting. Legendary director Mike Nichols reunites with longtime creative partner Elaine May to deliver a wildly entertaining remake of the beloved French farce “La Cage aux Folles.” Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are at their most brilliant as a flamboyant Miami couple who have to play it straight when their son announces he’s marrying the daughter of a buttoned-up, ultraconservative senator—played to hilarious perfection by the late Gene Hackman. Mayhem and hilarity ensue as gender roles, family dynamics, and cultural norms are brilliantly skewered in this vibrant, big-hearted celebration of love, identity, and the glorious mess of being human.
Tickets for the film, part of the Postcards from the Movies series, are FREE for SCAD Card holders; $5 for students, seniors, and military; and $8 for the general public. Passes for the full Postcards from the Movies series are available for $40.
