An Island Treasure is a glass float similar to the ones fishermen used to mark their nets in the early 1900s. Today, they are one-of-a-kind, hand-blown glass balls created by artists commissioned by Jekyll Island from around the country. The floats are part of a hide-and-seek style game played on Jekyll Island throughout January and February. Each day, volunteers called Beach Buddies, hide clear globes around the island for lucky guests to find and redeem for a real glass float.

When? Saturday, February 6th from 10:00 – 2:00
Where? MMP’s RH studio, 10384 Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill
What is included? The session fee includes a 10-15 minute session for one pet ($10 per additional), an online gallery, and a treat for your favorite companion! Portraits are a separate purchase and collections begin at $25. Please note that all session fees and 10% of each collection purchased will be donated to the SD Gunner Fund.
Are multiple pets allowed? Yes! Your $25 session fee includes one pet. Each additional is $10. All session fees will be donated to SD Gunner Fund. If you would like more time, please purchase 2-time slots.
What do I need to bring? Yourself, your pet (of course), your pet’s favorite treat/snack/lovey. If your pet is a fashionista, feel free to bring an accessory or two. In addition, all dogs must be on a leash.
Fine print? For the safety of all involved, your pet must be up to date on all vaccinations, be able to follow basic voice commands (sit, stay), be fully house trained, and friendly around all other people and animals. The only exception allowed is for puppies who are still learning voice commands and working on house training.
How should I prepare for my pet’s session? Please consider having your pet groomed a day or two before the session – don’t forget to clip those toenails! Remember that a tired pet is a happy pet, so please walk, run, or play with your pet about 1 hour to 30 minutes before the session. While I do ask all owners to bring their pet’s favorite treat, they will be used as a last resort to capture your pet’s attention. With that in mind, please do not feed your pet within an hour of their scheduled shoot.
How do I sign up for the fun? Click here to reserve your booking!

For the fifth consecutive year, The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia is orchestrating another defining Savannah event. The Annual Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend is a two-day series of presentations, tours, and events dedicated to the promotion of Savannah’s robust historic preservation efforts and its best-in-class examples of American architecture and design. The Society is a registered 501c3 organization and all proceeds from the events benefit two of the city’s nineteenth-century treasures, The Andrew Low House Museum and The Green-Meldrim House.
This year will be different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but events will go on safely with some being held in-person and others online. The theme, Preservation is Fun, focuses on preserving traditions in decorating, entertaining, and architecture. The weekend begins Friday with a virtual tour of the 1880s home of John O. Morisano and Carol Sawdye, lovingly restored and redesigned with the masterful expertise of designer Chuck Chewning. Chewning is renowned for his work restoring the Gritti Palace in Venice and Savannah’s Armstrong-Kessler Mansion. On Saturday, Mr. Color, Carleton Varney, returns to Savannah for two presentations on Preservation is Fun! in the garden of the Andrew-Low House. To help support the cause, picnic lunches to-go will be offered for pick up and the online auction will feature art, get-aways, and more.
The keynote speaker, Carleton Varney, is president and owner of Dorothy Draper & Co, Inc., and known for his work as designer for the Greenbrier, the Grand Hotel, the Colony Hotel, and countless private residences worldwide. He was decorator to President Jimmy Carter and currently serves on the White House Council for Historic Preservation and is the author of numerous books on interior design that he will be signing during his featured events.
Event Chairman Mary Lee Stevens says, “We are excited that we are able to continue to support our work for historic preservation this year in the face of the challenges presented by COVID-19. We continue to celebrate Savannah’s tremendous historic preservation work as a great example for other cities to follow.”

TUESDAY, MAY 18 – SUNDAY, MAY 30, 2021 AT TRUSTEES’ GARDEN To provide a safe environment for all patrons, artists, and other participants, the 2021 Savannah Music Festival is moving to
To provide a safe environment for all patrons, artists, and other participants, the 2021 Savannah Music Festival is moving to a mostly outdoor model. Unlike previous SMF seasons, which have taken place in early spring, the 2021 season is now scheduled for May 18 – 30, 2021.
The reenvisioned SMF 2021 season is designed to create a safe concert experience with live socially distanced outdoor and limited-capacity indoor performances, live-stream options, contact-free entry, and heightened safety procedures while providing the same quality entertainment you’ve come to expect.
This decision was made with the following considerations:
Several artists scheduled for the canceled 2020 festival season are confirmed for 2021, including Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. In addition, the festival will include other exemplary artists in jazz, including Christian McBride & Inside Straight and others to be revealed in January, as well as classical duo David Finckel & Wu Han and Associate Artistic Director Mike Marshall in a special Stringband Spectacular performance.
Live performances with limited seating capacity will take place outdoors on the main stage at Trustees’ Garden. In addition, chamber music performances with socially distanced, limited-capacity seating will be held at the Kehoe Iron Works building at Trustees’ Garden, located at 660 E. Broughton St. All events will take place rain or shine. SMF is also exploring additional festivals and off-season concerts to take place at outdoor venues, such as the North Garden Assembly Room at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum.
The complete lineup will be announced on Monday, January 11, along with concert safety protocols. A pre-sale for donors, sponsors, and SMF In Unison members will start on Tuesday, January 12, and run through Monday, January 18. Ticket sales to the general public will begin on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Tickets to the 2021 Savannah Music Festival will be available online at savannahmusicfestival.org, by phone at 912.525.5050, and in-person at the Savannah Box Office, located at 216 E. Broughton Street.
