ABOUT COASTAL STATE PRISON: Coastal State Prison is a medium security facility generated toward assisting offenders with the opportunity of positive change. We also protect the public as certified peace officers for the State of Georgia. Being apart of a common goal as correctional officers, we are given the opportunity to give back to the citizens of Georgia. The prison is considered special mission because of the programs the state provides for offenders: RSAT-Residential Substance Abuse Treatment, IRP- Intensive Re-entry Program, GED- Diploma Program, SOPP-Sex Offender Prevention, OJT-On the Job Training and many more. With such programs, offenders have the opportunity to become productive citizens at the end of their sentence. If all needs are met they also have the chance to parole with an early release.

Coastal State Prison will be having open interviews for Correctional Officer positions, weekly, Monday through Thursday beginning at 9AM and ending at 2PM. Minimum requirements include: applicants must be 21 years of age or older, must have a High School Diploma/GED, and cannot have ANY felonies on their criminal background (some misdemeanors are acceptable). There is opportunity for growth and advancement within the department. Our cadets’ starting pay is $41,844 annually ($20.12 per hour). After a year there is an automatic promotion to Correctional Officer ll and the salary is $46,028.40 annually ($22.13 per hour). If an applicant has experience, the promotion can be as soon as you complete Academy Training. At 1 1/2 years of employment, applicants may qualify for Field Training Officer with 10% increase in pay and Sergeant 15% increase.  All increases after sergeant are 10% increase in pay. There are other positions within the Georgia Department of Corrections which applicants could also qualify for after being employed the mandated year.

Coastal State Prison also offers non-security positions as well. Those positions and their starting annual salaries are as follows:

* Admin Support 2 – $25,039.02 ($12.04 per hour)

* Behavioral Health Counselor – $32,472 ($15.61 per hour)

* General Trades Technician (Maintenance) – $34,246.27 ($16.47 per hour)

* Instructor 2 – $41,400 ($19.90 per hour)

* Supply Warehouse Clerk 2 – $27,916.90 ($13.42 per hour)
