Join us for an evening of acoustic music. Tonight’s performance features two sessions by The Galway Rogues, Savannah’s most experienced Irish folk and trad band.
First Friday for Folk Music offers a fantastic music listening experience: live acoustic music by local and traveling artists, low admission fee, alcohol free, non-smoking, secular event, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The Galway Rogues are led by Michael Corbett (Guitar, lead vocals) with Dan O’Connell (Accordion, whistles, vocals), Johnnie Kennedy (Double bass) and Liam Corbett (Bodhrán)
Michael Corbett- Michael is a native of the Boston area who moved to Savannah in 2005. He plays acoustic guitar and is currently the lead singer and front man for The Galway Rogues in addition to occasional solo gigs. Michael has been performing Irish music professionally since 1995 and has been mentored by some of the finest Irish folk musicians of the twentieth century, including Robbie O’Connell and the legendary Liam Clancy. Michael is also influenced by a variety of American folk musicians from Pete Seeger to Bill Staines. In Savannah, Michael was also the lead singer and guitar player for Seldom Sober and The Savannah Ceili Band.
Dan O’Connell- Dan, a native of Cleveland, OH, has been playing Irish music for over thirty years. He was a founding member of The Savannah Ceili Band and other Savannah based bands. Dan is the owner of O’Connell’s pub and has lived in Savannah ever since the incident in Philadelphia.
Johnnie Kennedy- Johnnie has been playing bass professionally for over 50 years. Johnnie has worked with such notable artists as Freda Payne, the Drifters, the Platters, and the Coasters. A local legend, Johnnie works for Portman’s music during the day. He and Michael first played together in 2009.
Liam Corbett- Liam is Michael’s son and is a big fan of Irish music, particularly The Clancy Brothers, The Wolfe Tones, and The Irish Rovers. Liam plays bodhrán and made his professional debut with the Rogues at the 2025 Savannah Irish Festival.

Event Details
The look and the sound of Steely Dan, fronted by Dr. Kenneth Eggert, pianist, singer, musicologist, classical music composer and faculty member of the music department at Brevard College in North Carolina.
Keyboards, the 3-piece horn section, the background singers, the blazing solos of guitarist Jake Byrd, the drumming and percussion all devoted to their passion of delivering the Steely Dan musical experience.
It started with a date at a bar in 2017. Get some jazz cats and assorted other musicians together to learn a bunch of Dan tunes for a one-off event. Play a show and entertain some friends. It was so much fun, maybe lets do another … and another … and now after years of numerous dates in the southeast the band has acquired a deserved reputation for being THE ultimate tribute featuring top notch musicianship and spot-on recreations of Steely Dan classics.
Close your eyes and listen. Can you tell the difference?
